A few months ago, I've got a chance to meet with a strong, smart and beautiful woman. We've quickly realized that we shared a common passion: fighting to enable women and men to live their differences and benefit from equal rights. Alexia Perimony is a feminist and the Agent of a brillant play written by Author Eve Ensler, I am an emotional creature. As a feminist, she uses her talents to spread humanitarian messages written by thoughtful writers. Thanks to her, those messages can be heard by all.
TED, une fois. TED, deux fois. TED, trois fois ! Mais TED, c'est quoi ? TED, c'est une conférence qui réunit, depuis 1984, des hommes et des femmes qui livrent leurs réflexions. Un objectif : changer le monde. Ca peut vous sembler bête, prétentieux, utopiste. En effet, comment un simple individu pourrait changer le monde ? Pourtant, tout projet commence par une idée, une intuition, une réflexion... nombreuses sont celles qui n'aboutissent pas, mais certaines ont le pouvoir de faire changer nos modes de vie, notre société et parfois même notre vision du monde. Toute révolution commence par une idée (TED n'aurait donc rien inventé ?).
De Alexandre Graham Bell, qui inventât le téléphone en 1876, à László Bíró qui a conçu le stylo à bille. De Louis Braille qui a illuminé le quotidien de nombreux non-voyants, à Marie Curie et sa découverte du radium. Des frères lumière qui sont à l'origine du cinéma à Alain Carpentier qui a mis au point un coeur artificiel qui sauvera peut-être de nombreuses vies dans le futur, en passant par le professeur Luc Montagnier qui a découvert le virus du SIDA et Louis Pasteur qui a mis en place la pasteurisation et le vaccin contre la rage... Nombreux sont les hommes et les femmes dont les intuitions ont fait évoluer notre civilisation, où juste améliorés nos quotidiens.
Pour que ces grandes idées continuent à être exprimées et diffusées, les conférences TED sont organisées plusieurs fois par an. Chacun des intervenants sélectionnés doit faire part de sa brillante analyse en 18 minutes maximum. Alors sortez les chronos.

Chaque année, le Labo Ethnic prend place au coeur de Paris. C'est l’occasion idéale de découvrir et de promouvoir de nouveaux stylistes venus des quatre coins du globe qui méritent d'être (re)connus. Cette année, la 5ème édition du Labo Ethnic mettait l’Afrique du sud à l’honneur. Durant 3 jours, du 17 au 19 juin 2011, la capitale de la mode a ouvert ses podiums à des stylistes réunis pour créer l’évènement.
Aujourd’hui, intéressons-nous au styliste sud africain David Tlale, qui participait au Labo Ethnic pour la première fois. David est l’un des stylistes qui compte dans son pays. Depuis le début de sa carrière, David a été recompensé à de multiples reprises pour son travail. Elu "Meilleur styliste de l’année" par le Sunday Times Sud Africain en 2003, gagnant de la competition Elle Talent durant la semaine de la mode Sud Africaine (SAFW), David semble collectionner les titres et le public applaudit ! Après sa dernière collection futuriste, il revient avec de nouvelles creations inspirées par l’ancien president sud africain de 92 ans, Madiba, mieux connu sous le nom de Nelson Mandela. Le choix des couleurs rouge et noir, la selection des matières... chaque détail a été consciencieusement sélectionné pour rappeler l’homme qui a changé le visage de l’Afrique du Sud.
"La vie est faite d’occasions" explique David Tlate et il semble bien décidé à toutes les saisir. Les spectateurs parisiens ont apparemment apprécié!

Each year, Fashion rendez-vous Labo Ethnic takes place in Paris. This is the ideal occasion to discover new designers coming from all over the world. This is also the opportunity to open your eyes to creations coming from the Africa and Asia. Last week, at the occasion of the 5th edition of Labo Ethnic, South Africa was honored. During three days, from June 17 to 19, fashion had no boundaries. No north, no south, fashion designers were united in the capital of France for a common goal: doing the show.
Today, let's introduce South African designer David Tlale who did his first appearance at Labo Ethnic one week ago. David is one of the best designers in his country. As one of the designers who count, he has been recognised with several awards. Voted "Best Designer of The Year" by the Sunday Times in 2003, winner of the South African Fashion Week Elle Talent Competition (SAFW), as well as Mzansi Star Fashion Designer at Mzansi Awards, David seems to collect all the awards and the public loves him! After his last season futuristic collection, he comes back with creations inspired by the 92 years old South African former President Madiba, better known as Nelson Mandela. The choice of the red and black colours, the selection of fabrics, each detail has been chosen to represent the man who has changed the face of South Africa forever.
